Chapter 12

~The Great War~

ย Humans. Creatures filled with greed. Creatures filled with hate. Creatures that are minds thrive in filth. Creatures whose ferocity is greater than any God. Those who feel are deemed unworthy. But those who own it are deemed as strong. The filth and hate, the cruelty and greed are such emotions. Such that no greater power can run past them. No demon, no spirit, no angels, no God can tame the human heart. They were never born to lead, they were born for the world's destruction. They were born to fill it with love, to make the world bloom. But oh, what an irony this is. They are the ones pushing life away, but they are the ones that are saying life.

Humans... Humans were made for destruction. The High Dragon King's voice sounded rough as he continued walking down the rows of his castle's prison. The High King and his reign didn't kill creatures. The humans, as well as other species in the cells of the prisons, were there, were now destined for a punishment greater than their fear. Those who step on the rules, get stepped on. But the High King was not their punisher. He was there to bring peace to the species. No one dared talk back to the Dragon family because they were not questionable. They were the leaders. As the High King walked down more, he abruptly stopped in front of a cell, where a special human was sleeping soundlessly.

To be in such ease for a human, that's unheard for... The High Dragon King was confused by this human's actions. He shook his head. This is the first time he had to punish an innocent soul, and his own did not accept it graciously. He had to sacrifice this human, for the world to continue existing. "Wake up, human." He said sternly. He didn't have to yell or shout. He could wake the human without even speaking, but he chose not to scare them anyway.

"Wake up, human." A cold voice sounded right beside her ear. The woman didn't see anyone in her cell. The She General, that was who was lying on the floor in one of the dragon's cells. "Great, another vile creature." she thought to herself, thinking of ways to kill that said, vile creature.

"The most vile of creatures are you kind, human.'' The High Dragon King, also known as Ares Hayes spoke up sternly after hearing her thoughts. "Who are you?" she asked as she grabbed the sword that was laying next to her. The woman picked up her sword, blindingly swinging it in the air once. "Don't bother fighting anymore, human." The High Dragon King spoke up once more, his tone menacing, as always. "No... It can't be... We were winning the war!" the woman voiced out in fear. "No human, you were not winning a war. You were seizing the world, all by yourself." the Dragon King sighed. "You shall not talk about the world, you vile creature! My army is saving our kind!" the She general warned. "You are still fooling yourself, human." the High Dragon King continued unamused. "I am not!-"

"You are."

"Who are you?!"

"I am your punishment human."

"What?! NO! I have to save my kind!"

"Don't bother... Your kind is in no danger from any other creatures, but exactly your own."

"You cannot talk about my kind like that!"

"You will be a sacrifice for your- and all others- kind, human."

"Of course, I will sacrifice myself for my kind, but how dare you talk to me about those vile creatures?-"

"Your kind is the cause of this war, human! No other creature! You have been fooled!" rage was painted into the high Dragon King's eyes in red color, making the ground shiver beneath their feet.

"No...."

"You have been betrayed by them."

"It can't be true..."

"You know as well as I do what the truth is." A narrow silence broke up between the two creatures.

The human did not believe the truth. But how could she, when she, for a year now fought to save her kind, just to turn out they were the ones to blame? Such a prideful and loyal woman could not ever accept such truth. The High King could not stop but feel guilt, for the first time in his life. He has done many shameful deeds, but this was the only one that did not want to proceed with. In his mind, the woman was a true warrior and a fool, she didn't deserve the fate of immortal death. She didn't deserve to never be born again.

"The decision of your punishment was not negotiable, human. You are doomed to die and never be reborn again. You are the first and only case to proceed with such measures." The High King felt a pang of emotion he didn't recognize when the woman's hope shattered through her eyes. "You did not deserve such punishment, human." He admits aloud. He wanted a reason for such extreme measures, but the Fate Goblin could not foresee more. He could only announce such punishment. "I will not stop until my kind is free." She said foolishly. How could the High King be able to seek help from someone to save her, when he was the upper power of this world? "I will not stop until my kind is free!"

The High Dragon King shook his head, not bothering to speak up. He left the palace's prison with slow steps echoing in the walls. He did whatever he could to save her. He helped her get away, in the hope she will not go back to war, but stay away from it. In his heart though, he knew she would go back, and they would meet mid-way again. The dragons did not intervene in such trivial matters. They just punished the wrong. A little while after the High King was gone, there was a voice outside the cells.

It felt as if a rebellion was happening. It felt as if she had a chance to escape. Like the warrior she was, she immediately fled the prison. She stopped for a moment. Looking back at the palace. She felt a weird emotion in her heart. She felt as if her fate was long overdue as if this little time she had was granted by someone. She was going to die either way. Either by the High Dragon King Or by the same people she fought with. And it happened exactly how the High King said it would.

The High King watched from the sky and he couldn't stop what fate was written for that human. The woman went back to war. Fighting for her kind. A fight was long overdue. Like her life limit. The war lasted a long time, and it was time now for The High King to punish those at fault. There was nothing left on the field. Only one human. Everyone else was dead, only she survived.

"Human." He called out from the top of the castle. Watching the woman on her knees being in denial. "Human, your time is over." The woman locked eyes with the High King and nodded wordlessly. Starting a ritual he did not want to be part of.

With the power of the High Dragon King, I deem you unworthy of living. You shall not be born again. You shall not let another breath in this world as you doomed every species into darkness. "With the power as the High Dragon King, I deem you unworthy of living. You shall not be born again. You shall not let another breath in this world as you doomed every species into darkness." He roared, now in his dragon form. "You are never to be seen as a life in this world again! Accept your fate and punishment human!"

"I accept my fate, High Dragon King."

"You shall now be gone forever!" The dragon roared, making the earth shake as he struck the human with his dark powers, taking away both her life. And her soul...

"You are now dead. Your fate has come upon you." The human body of the woman had been burned into ashes and she felt every fiber of her body shatter to pieces. "What you felt was the pain of those who were slaughtered in the war, human." They were standing side to side now, the High Dragon King was looking at the vast universe with the woman next to him. Yes, her body was dead, but now, the worst part comes. "It is time for your soul to disappear from this world, human." The woman nodded, understanding the whole truth clearly. "It was you. It was you who set me free that day, and I disappointed you." The High King nodded and now it was time for him to shatter the pieces of her soul. "Please, proceed with your duties, High King. I do not blame you. You need not feel guilty, it was, after all, my fate."

"Farewell, human. I hope your soul finds peace. I wish you weren't so foolish."

This is the legend of the Dusk turning into Dawn. The legend of that unfaithful night. But no one knows the truth behind those incidents. No one but those who lived in them and it was somehow related to the legend of Ajax and Rhea, but until today, no one knew how. Hopefully, fate will reveal the truth soon enough.
